Shane: Maybe when your guests leave.

Me: Maybe? Shane, come on, talk to me. What happened? I don’t want to lose you again.

Shane: You have plenty of friends. Why do you care if you lose me? I’m a nobody.

Me: You are NOT a nobody. I like talking to you and hanging out with you.

Shane: We don’t hang out like you hang out with your other friends.

Me: Well, you did disappear from my life for over a year, so we haven’t had as many opportunities to do stuff.

Shane: We’ve never danced together, but you were dancing with those other girls that you barely know.

Me: If you wanted to dance, we could have danced, but you left early. If you didn’t notice, I was being pulled in a million directions. I was doing the best I could to visit with everyone. I wasn’t purposefully giving anyone special treatment or anything.

Shane: I just don’t know how to be your friend.

Me: I didn’t realize I’m so hard to please.

Shane: Well, aren’t you? You’re famous. You have six wives. You have two babies, and one on the way. How do I fit into that world?

Me: Just like my other friends do. We talk and hang out when we can and you just be yourself. I don’t expect you to be anyone different.

Shane: You really don’t want to lose me?

Me: I want you in my life.

Shane: Give me some space. I need to think about some stuff.

Me: So, you want zero communication from me?

Shane: Yes. I’ll come around when I’m ready.

Me: Ok. I’m leaving town in a couple weeks. I’ll be gone for a full week, then I’ll have one week before Julia comes back to rehearse for the next movie. You’re still welcome to come hang out when Julia is here, but I just wanted to let you know. Anyway, I’ll respect your wishes and leave you alone. I hope to talk to you sooner than later. Bye.

Shane: Bye.
